Bishop Cotton’s girls triumph

BANGALORE: Bishop Cotton’s Girls High School ‘A’ beat St. Euphrasia’s Girls High School 1-0 to clinch the Tanvi Rao memorial trophy for girls upto 10th Standard in the all-India Anglo Indian Association hockey tournament at the St. John’s School ground here on Sunday. N.S Neha scored the winner.

In the Allan Macbride memorial tournament for boys under-12, St. Joseph’s Indian Middle School beat St. Joseph’s Boys High School 2-1.

Mohammed Raheel (25th) and Arun M. Shinde (31st) scored for SJIMS while Samridh Nanjappa (13th) scored for SJBHS.

Special awards: Girls: Best goal-keeper: Ashwati Ramesh (Sacred Heart), Best defender: Deepthi Ganesh (St. Francis Xavier’s), Best half-back: Meghana Prasad (Bishop Cotton’s), Best forward: Marsha Striker.

Special Awards: Boys: Best goal-keeper: Saif Ali (Frank Anthony’s), Best defender: Denzil Sundarraj (St. Joseph’s BHS), Best half-back: M. Mitra (Bishop Cotton’s), Best forward: Mohammed Raheel (SJIMS).

Visweswarapuram CC (2) and Jayanagar United Cricketers played out a tie in a KSCA Group I, fourth division cricket league.

Visweswarapuram, riding on Musharib’s unbeaten 104, posted 261 for seven in 50 overs and Jayanagar United Cricketers scored 261 in 49.2 overs.

The scores: Visweswarapuram CC (2) 261 for seven in 50 overs (Musharib 104 n.o., V.M. Bharath 40) tied with Jayanagar United Cricketers 261 in 49.2 overs (Prasad 49 n.o., Swapan 45, Bharath five for 73).
