Godhra next target: “Indian Mujahideen”

Manas Dasgupta

AHMEDABAD: Terrorists have threatened to make Godhra their next target of attack.

A letter, signed in the name of “Indian Mujahideen” and received by Panchamahals Collector Millind Torwane, said that after Ahmedabad and Surat, Godhra would be the target. It specified that schools would be the main target, but other “public places” would not be spared. It was the same “Indian Mujahideen,” which sent e-mails five minutes before the serial bomb blasts occurred here on July 26.According to police sources, the language of the letter was similar to that of the e-mail. “We are coming to Godhra, stop us if you can,” the letter said. The e-mail before the blasts had thrown a similar challenge — “Stop us, if you can.”

Meanwhile, one more live bomb was found in the heart of Surat on Saturday. Seen in a bag kept under a tree near the Amroli bridge in the Katargam area, it was defused by a bomb squad. The police said it was similar to the 25-odd bombs detected and defused in the city last week.
