Injured players to be assessed today
Colombo: V.V.S. Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar, and Ishant Sharma, all of whom suffered injuries on the second day of the third Test, will be assessed on Sunday morning to determine their further participation in the match.
Indian physio Nitin Patel said the injuries were minor, but that a “clear picture would emerge tomorrow (Sunday).” He said that Parthiv Patel, who was struck on the nose while keeping wicket, had “suffered a minor cut and is ok”.
Laxman sprained his left ankle before the start of the second day, and had to be supported off the field. He underwent an MRI scan. Tendulkar hyper-extended his left elbow during a failed attempt to catch Chaminda Vaas off Anil Kumble.
Ishant bruised his glut muscle when he landed on it after losing balance following through. — Special Correspondent
