Deemed university status conferred

NEW DELHI: The Union Human Resource Development Ministry, on the advice of the University Grants Commission (UGC), has conferred ‘deemed to be university’ status on Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry, for five years, subject to conditions.

The college is run by Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth. Presently the medical college is affiliated to Pondicherry University. — Special Correspondent
