Can’t they increase a few more coaches so that passengers can at least sit or stand? I see commuters hanging perilously because of no space during rush hour. What’s the harm in increasing capacity? Why can’t they increase frequency a bit more? I have been using MMTS ever since its inception, but facilities for passengers have not improved one bit. R.S. Deepak Kumar TCS employee Getting a seat is a major problem in MMTS. Just to avoid regular traffic we prefer MMTS. By the time we take our tickets, the train leaves because there’s only on two ticket counters. There are no toilets at several MMTS stations. After getting out of MMTS train, we wait for a minimum of 20 minutes for the bus. So our office is providing that facility these days. In spite of such difficulties, still we give respect to MMTS. R. Vijay Kumar IT employee I am from city outskirts and it’s tough for commuters like us because there’s no connectivity. They should think of developing this concept in the lines of suburban train system, which is already thriving at Chennai and Mumbai. The frequency of trains and delay in arrivals and departures is also a major source of irritation for us. Getting a seat is next to impossible in MMTS. Md. Saber Iqbal Engineer The MMTS fares are very competitive. The service also helps us to travel quickly and avoid traffic on city roads. There are problems like less number of ticket counters. By the time we purchase a ticket, the train invariably starts moving. There have been cases of theft in the jam packed coaches. Unauthorised entry into ladies compartment and ticketless travelling is rampant. RTC busses are never available on time and hence I walk back to my house. V. Krishna Hotel Management student The combined ticket is not valid for first class MMTS travelling. Metro and Veera busses also we can’t use. They talked about introducing feeder services but we seldom get buses on time. Still, despite such difficulties, MMTS has been a good alternative for us, as it helps us to avoid traffic. A bit of better facilities like toilets and parking lots is needed. V. Lakshminathan Management student
