Six-member gang raids house

BANGALORE: A six-member gang struck at a residence in Gruhalakshmi Layout in Peenya police station limits on Wednesday night, and made away with gold and silver ornaments, and cash all estimated at Rs. 95,000.

The gang struck at the residence of Anil Kumar, who owns an industry in Peenya Industrial Area first stage. At the time of attack, Mr. Kumar’s aged parents were at home located in Gruhalakshmi Layout at Nelagadanahalli.

According to complainant Anup, brother of Anil Kumar, gang members approached his father Bhaskar Pillai around 9.45 p.m. on Wednesday while he was returning home.

Two members of the gang told Mr. Pillai that his house was in litigation and that they needed to see the property documents.

Even before Mr. Pillai could realise what was happening, four others joined the two and wielded sharp weapons at Mr. Pillai and his wife.

Later, they tied them up and robbed the house. The police said the gang members were wearing monkey caps and spoke Kannada, Hindi and Telugu. The dacoits took away gold jewellery estimated at Rs. 65,000 and Rs. 30,000 in cash.

School burgled

Thieves struck at the Government School at Doddbyaladakere in Soladevanahalli police limits early on Thursday and made away with Rs. 5,000 in cash and an amplifier.

The police said the burglars gained entry into the school after breaking the window.
