MUMBAI: Tata Steel said on Wednesday it had no plans to suspend construction work on the Dhamra port project in Orissa. A Tata Steel press release said that the clarification was being issued following a “forged statement” sent to the media stating that the company was planning to halt work on the Dhamra port project. “The company would like to clarify that the statement is false and has been done with the deliberate intention to malign the company’s reputation and hinder the project,” the release said. “Tata Steel strongly condemns this malicious attempt to stall the development initiative in Orissa,” the release said, reiterating that the company was committed to the socio-economic prosperity and sustainable development of the State. It would continue to work with civil society and the government towards the same, the release added. — PTI
