TIRUCHI: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board in a press release on Wednesday said that the power shutdown announced in certain areas in the city limit on August 7 (Thursday) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., owing to maintenance work in Tiruchi sub-station, has been cancelled. Shifting of electric postsThere will be no power supply in the following areas on August 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to the work of shifting the electric posts following four-laning of the National Highway - 45. The areas are: Mannarpuram Bypass Road, Khaja Nagar, Khaja Nagar Hut area and Jamal Mohamed College, a press release from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board here said. DemonstrationMembers of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam staged a demonstration at Samayapuram on Wednesday condemning frequent power cuts. The demonstration held in front of the Electricity Board office was headed by party union secretary Mohan. Gold stolenGold jewellery weighing four sovereigns was reported stolen from a house at Muthurajapalayam near Thathaiengarpet in the district on Tuesday. Unknown persons entered the house of V. Chellamal through the roof when she was asleep.
