PALANI: While bringing the Dhandayuthapaniswamy Temple here under a security net, temple staff, sanitary workers and all shop keepers around the hill temple have been instructed to handle situations concerning security carefully and react in an emergency diligently. The temple employees have been advised to know all the items owned by the shrine and their stocking places. They must check that all items are kept in their respective places every night before closing the temple. Similar exercise should be done the next morning after opening the temple. If they find any new item or unclaimed luggage or parcel, they should not try to lift or open it. One worker for each shop will be allowed to stay on the hill temple at night. List of workers staying on the temple at night should be handed over to the police. These instructions were given at a special training programme meant for temple staff and shop owners held on the hill temple here on Wednesday. Talking to press persons after delivering a special address at the session, the Collector, R. Vasuki, said that involvement of people was very essential to prevent untoward incidents. They should cooperate with temple administration in providing adequate security to pilgrims. A high-speed dome camera would be installed on the temple premises. Identity cards have been given to all temple staff.
