PAHC in last four

Chennai: Punitha Arogya Hockey Club (PAHC), Keeranur, made it to the semifinals of the Winning XI Hockey Club State-level tournament on Monday after a keen tussle and won 6-4 in the tie-breaker against Stella Maris College at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium.

The teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time. Keeranur team’s Santhanavalli and Stella Maris’ Menaka scored two each for their sides.

In the tie-breaker, Punitha Arogya had the upper hand right through converting four against the two by Stella Maris.

The results: Madurai HC w/o IHM (Tiruvallur).

PAHC 6 (Santhavalli 2, Vinodini, Epsi, Ramya, Nitya) bt Stella Maris 4 (Menaka 2, Maheshwari, Ishwarya).

St. Peter’s triumphs

St. Peter’s boys defeated host Sir M. Ct. M 53-35, in the boys’ final of the Sir M.Ct.M. HSS 17th state-level inter-school basketball tournament. Senthil Murugan (35) top scored.

The results: Boys: Final: St. Peter’s 53 (Senthil Murugan 35, Aravindhan 11) bt Sir M.Ct.M. 35 (Harish 14, Charles 11); Third place: DBTR National (Mayiladuthurai) 68 (Praveen Kumar 23, Karthick 15) bt Hindu Senior (Adyar) 37 (Ranjith 15, Titus 10).

Girls: Final: Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan (Erode) 44 (Suganya 17, Arokiya Jonit 13) bt Sarada Vidyalaya (Salem) 24. Third place: Lady Sivasamy 48 (Karpagam 21) bt St. Joseph’s 29.

Keerthi blanks Abinav

Keerthi Nathan did a ‘double bagel’ in the India Pistons-KTC-TNTA junior tennis tournament (u-14) on Monday, blanking out Abinav G. Arthrey in the first round.

Sumeet H. Sanghavi clinched three gold medals in air pistol, standard pistol, centre fire pistol of the first members competition in rifle and pistol events of the Chennai Rifle Club held at B. Sivanthi Adityan Shooting Sports Complex here during the weekend.

Kirubakaran in final

Kirubakaran (SIAA) beat Palavesan (SIAA) 306-215 in the semifinal of the non-medallist billiards tournament at the Madras United Club here. In the other semifinal, G.K. Ram Mohan (IRI/AJJ) got the better of Wahid (MUC) 280-262.

TT tournament
