CHENNAI: The second season of the Amaron Karting Challenge is set to start at Kart Attack here on August 23 with events slated to take place at seven centres across India. The four-stroke karting event is expected to attract over 2,000 young enthusiasts over the next six months with the final scheduled for January 11 next year at Bangalore. The top three winners will receive scholarships worth Rs. 10 lakh. New kart launchedAt the launch of the new EVO AE-1 kart for Season-2 in presence of ace racers Narain Kartikeyan, Armaan Ebrahim and Aditya Patel on Monday, former racer Akbar Ebrahim said the new karts would provide an “authentic racing experience to budding racers”. “The challenge will be a perfect opportunity for young hopefuls to identify and realise their dreams in motor sports. It is an open series for anybody who has little or no experience in racing,” he added. Amaron Raja Managing Director, Jayadev Galla, said the event was an exercise to identify racing talent among the youngsters. “It is a wholesome, dynamic programme structured to discover hidden talent. All the aspirant has to do is sign up to race and compete. That we are committed to racing is amply demonstrated by the current champions we sponsor: Narain, Armaan, Aditya and Karun Chandhok,” he said. The Amaron Karting Challenge-2008 is open to children between 12 and 16 years, with a valid school identity card, who have not had a podium finish in any karting championship in the past three years. Registration forms can be accessed at www.amaron.in . Entries to the Chennai Challenge will open on August 5 and close at midnight on August 19. — Sports Reporter
