Schumacher’s Indian ‘guru’ joins Fisichella

London: Michael Schumacher’s former physio and ‘spiritual guide,’ Balbir Singh, made a comeback to the Formula One paddock to work with Force India driver Giancarlo Fisichella.

The Punjab-born Balbir had a decade-long relationship with the Ferrari legend before he left F-1 to spend time with his family. But the temptation to work with the first Indian F-1 team was too good to resist and Balbir joined Force India.

“I had contact with (Force India team principal) Colin Kolles. The first point for me was this is an Indian team, the Indian flag. Normally I’m not so patriotic as they say wherever I lay your hat, it’s my home, and my home is actually Germany. But I was born in India.

“A lot of things come from India, old medicine, yoga, meditation, and suddenly in the last few years computer technology, and now an F-1 team! — PTI
