Sarfraz Ashraf’s efforts in vain

Bangalore: Despite Sarfraz Ashraf’s all-round show (six for 54 and 52), Crescent CC (1) suffered a 24-run defeat to Sangam CA in a KSCA Group I, fourth division league match here recently.

The scores: Sangam CA 173 in 44.5 overs (Sarfaraz Ashraf six for 54) bt Crescent CC (1) 149 in 48.1 overs (Sarfaraz Ashraf 52).

Southern Cricketers 112 in 30 overs (V.S. Sandeep seven for 30) lost to Friends XI CC, Doddaballapur 113 for three in 19.3 overs (Hanumantha Raju 44).

Young Pioneer CC 168 in 44.2 overs (James four for 32) lost to Oriental CC 170 for three in 24 overs (V. Shekar 84).

Vivekananda Union CC 152 in 46.1 overs (V. Susheel 45, Rakesh five for 33, Mukesh five for 50) lost to Cavaliers CC 153 for four in 28.3 overs (Farid 58, Jagdish 46 n.o.).

Minerva CC 287 for five in 50 overs (Vineeth 92, K.R. Kashya 80 n.o.) bt Deccan United CC 250 in 50 overs (Manish 52, Gaurav six for 70).

Big win for St. Germain’s

St. Germain’s High School defeated Frank Anthony Public School 4-0 in the boys under-12 section of the All-India Anglo Indian Association hockey tournament, for the Allan MacBride Trophy here. Syed Abbas (39th min & 47th), K. Harshith (16th) and Nikhil Felix (36th) were the scorers.

Earlier in the first match, St. Joseph’s Boys High School and Bishop Cotton’s High School drew 1-1. Vinay Jain (16th) scored for St. Joseph’s while P. Lohit (31st) equalised for Bishop Cotton’s.

In the Tanvi Rao Memorial tournament for girls (upto 10th Standard), St. Francis Xavier’s ‘A’ beat Sacred Hearts 2-1. Arlene Koshy (28th & 32nd) scored for St. Francis Xavier after Monica Basco (15th) had put Sacred Heart in the lead.

In a second match, Frank Anthony Public School beat St. Francis Xavier ‘B’ 4-0 with Marsha Striker scoring a treble (23rd, 29th & 32nd). S.H Meghana (30th) broke Striker’s sequence.

Easy for South Zone

South Zone crafted a 7-2 victory over Central Zone in the Sports Authority of India inter-zone hockey tournament at KSHA stadium here on Monday.

Nitin Thimmaiah (1st), Vinod Rayer (7th & 29th), Sampath Kumar (10th), MB Aiyappa (27th), KA Nilesh (35th) and Vineet Michael (51st) scored for South Zone and Abhishek (5th) and Badshah Alam (21st) scored for Central Zone.

In a second fixture, East Zone beat West Zone 2-1 with Sudanshu Choudhary (42nd) and Rahbar Khan (55th) scoring for the winner and Karan Thapa (14th) scoring for West Zone.

Aruldas posts win

Aruldas beat Abrar Sait 51-56, 53-8, 49-16, 41-52, 55-46 in the 39th Senior State ranking snooker tournament, at the KSBA hall here.

Devdarshan triumphs

Devdarshan of Accenture won the Ventures Serve Rally Smash corporate table tennis tournament’s mens’ title, defeating Nikhil Wadhman 9-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7 in the final here during the weekend.

Hewlett Packard’s Akshata won the women’s title, defeating Manasa 11-9, 11-5, 6-11, 7-11, 11-7 in the final.

U-12 Futures tennis
