NEW DELHI: Wild card Sunil Kumar fought his way past Riccardo Ghedin of Italy 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the ATP Challenger tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Monday. Yuki Bhambri lost 6-7(2), 7-5, 2-6 to the sixth-seeded Alexander Slabinsky of Britain while Ashutosh Singh fell to Tatsuma Ito of Japan. The results: Singles (first round): Toshihide Matsui (Jpn) bt Ivo Klec (Svk) 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4; Sunil Kumar bt Riccardo Ghedin (Ita) 3-6, 6-3, 6-4; Tatsuma Ito (Jpn) bt Ashutosh Singh 7-5, 6-4; Brydan Klein (Aus) bt Hiroki Kondo (Jpn) 6-3, 6-4.
