MALAPPURAM: The students and teachers of MMET High School here on Monday sent 2,008 postcards to the educational authorities and various government offices as part of a school cleanliness drive launched across the State. The postcard venture marked the second phase of an ongoing hygiene awareness campaign with the theme of ‘Welcome rain, fight epidemics,’ which was launched on June 27. As many as 1,942 students and 66 staff members of the school sent the postcards to Education Minister M.A. Baby, Director of Public Instruction Mohammed Hanish, the heads of different government departments, people’s representatives, and the classes of other schools in the district. Home visits, awareness campaign, and pamphlet distribution were conducted in July as part of the drive. The students have been cleaning the campus every fortnight.
