SALEM: Salem Steel Plant (SSP) organised a massive medical camp for the villagers of Sivathapuram near here on Sunday. Inaugurated by SSP’s Executive Director BB. Singh, a team of doctors from the Steel Plant conducted screening of nearly 850 villagers for various ailments. Medical cards were also issued containing name, age, sex, pervious history of ailments, address and other details to each attendant of the camp. Of the total 820 villagers, many were given medicines free of cost for simple ailments. Another batch of 102 was subjected to sugar tests and another 70 for anaemia. Appropriate advice on nutrition and awareness on management of sugar were also provided. Nine had been diagnosed to have developed cataracts. They were admitted in the Salem Steel Plant Main Hospital for cataract surgeries. These surgeries would be carried out free of cost. Over 70 patients with less serious and serious ailments had been referred to the Plant’s main hospital for further treatment. The team provided nutritional packets to the needy. All those who attended were subjected to weight, blood sugar levels, blood pressure, diagnosis for any ailment and if so provided treatment with medical advice.
