For well-being: Marwari Yuva Manch taking out ‘Shravan Kavad Yatra’ for betterment of mankind in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. VISAKHAPATNAM: Hundreds of people including several women and children took part in ‘Shravan Kavad Yatra’ on Sunday culminating in offering of water to Lord Siva at Pandurangapuram temple from a hill stream at Madhavadhara. Some 1,000 people from Marwari and other communities took part in the yatra conducted by Marwari Yuva Manch, an NGO with head office at Delhi. Long trekThey gathered at Shiva temple at 5.30 a.m., took water from a hill stream in containers and later trekked a distance of 14 km in four hours to reach Pandurangapuram via Birla junction, Muralinagar, Railway new colony, Diamond Park, Asilmetta and Siripuram. Annual affairThe yatra is conducted every year during shravanamasam to pray for the welfare of mankind and world peace, Marwari Yuva Manch local unit secretary S.K. Shah said. Manch president Satish Sharma, former president Rajesh Baisya, vice-presidents Madhusudan Yaduka, Naresh Agarwal and joint secretary Naresh Saharla were present. Special prayersSporting colourful attires, the yatris during their padayatra chanted slogans like ‘bolo bom bom’ meaning remembering Lord Siva. Later they offered special prayers to Lord Siva.
