Wide range: Visitors having a look at the trendy goods at the Assam cane furniture expo launched in Hyderabad on Saturday. HYDERABAD: Showcasing the trendiest, comfortable and durable cane furniture, the 16-day Assam cane furniture expo was launched at the Lepakshi export-oriented showroom at Musheerabad here on Saturday. Income Tax Commissioner F.K. Mohanty inaugurated the expo. A wide range of sofa sets, arm chairs, deck chairs, table lamps, lamp shades, fruit bowls, dining tables, flower vase, trays, chairs and side stools and other furniture are exhibited in the expo. Sofa sets, dining tables and table lamps are a must to look out for. Icing on the cake is that organisers are offering a 20 per cent discount on all items in the expo, which is organised in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited. Best for all seasonsCane furniture is the best furniture for all seasons. It is cost effective, durable and not much of maintenance is required except oil polish once a year to preserve the furniture, says Bashodeb Das, an artisan from Assam. The price range of a sofa set (3+2) on display starts from Rs. 8, 000 and goes up to Rs. 32, 500. While a dining table (four chairs) can cost about Rs. 11, 500, adds Mr. Das. The expo is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all days, including Sundays and public holidays.
