VIJAYAWADA: Students of medical and dental courses at under-graduate and post-graduate level need not go to Hyderabad or any other metro city for buying their books, as they are available in the city book stores itself. With medical and dental colleges opening on August 4, book centres are gearing up to meet students’ book needs. All types of medical and dental books from national and international publishers can be bought at competitive prices locally. “When the facility is made available here, it is all the more convenient for students. They need not run here and there to get books of their favourite authors,” says Sridhar Reddy, secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Krishna district chapter. Dr. Sridhar was speaking after inaugurating a medical and dental book exhibition at New Students Book Centre on the Eluru Road on Saturday. Pat for book centreHe said students had to go to far-off places to buy medical books of their choice in the past and the present generation had no botheration now. He complimented the book centre management for making available all latest books under one roof. CPI city secretary K. Subba Raju said more books were being published for the benefit and convenience of students, whose reach to various sources of knowledge widened in scope on a large scale. Subject expertiseHe stressed the importance of books and their availability in the faster dissemination of information and subject expertise in various fields. B. Babji, vice-president of Vijayawada Book Festival Society and owner of New Students Book Centre, said that books from all over the country and by all international publishers were collected and made available for sale. DiscountDiscounts were being offered up to 40 per cent. “Students can come along with parents and buy with comfort,” he said.
