Employee moves sessions court for bail
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: A. Sankar, an assistant in the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department who was arrested in connection with the alleged leak of a taped conversation between the Chief Secretary and a former Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, has moved the Principal Sessions Judge court seeking bail.In his application, Mr. Sankar said simply because the Principal Secretary to the government directed registration of a case, the DSP, Cyber Crime, mechanically registered an FIR in a knee-jerk reaction. There was no application of mind. The circumstances of the case would reveal that he was being made a scapegoat.
There was no evidence to show that he had any knowledge about the recording (of the conversation) made by the Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption. He had suffered in police custody. Any further detention would bring more misery.
He was always available for interrogation, Mr. Sankar said, seeking release on bail.
