Rs. 20 lakh donated for road work
Staff Reporter
ARIYALUR: In the wake of the discussion on City Development Plan earlier this week when participants sought active involvement of industries for overall progress of Ariyalur Municipality on various fronts, two cement companies handed over cheques amounting to about Rs. 20 lakh for improving roads and bridges to Collector R. Sudalaikannan on Friday.
The district administration sees in the gesture of the Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd., and Ramco Cement in contributing Rs. 9.9 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh respectively a fitting augury for the development of the nascent district that came into being since November, 2007.
On behalf of Dalmia Cement, a delegation comprising Cement Factory Senior General Manager Sunil Kumar Gupta; Deputy General Manager – Human Resource B. Shivakumar; Assistant General Manager – Quarry R. Chandrasekar, and Manager – Public Relations P. Charles Allwyn called on the Collector and presented the cheque for black-topping the road to the south of Palli Lake and construction of a small bridge.
Likewise, Ramco Cement Vice-Chairman (Manufacture) A.K. Singh; Deputy General Manager – Administration C. Ravichandran; Assistant General Manager – Personnel Johnson, and Manager Kannan met the Collector and presented their cheque for the purpose of strengthening the Rajaji Nagar Main Road and constructing a small bridge.
