KOZHIKODE: A meeting of the State committee of the Kerala Aided Higher Secondary Teachers Association has asked the authorities to vest in principals of higher secondary schools the responsibility to fill the remaining seats of Plus One courses. According to the association, the measure was warranted in view of more than 1.5 lakh seats remaining unfilled because of the single window system of admission introduced from this academic year. Since the allotment process was delayed, many students who stood a good chance of getting admission had joined unaided schools. The association also wanted the government to ensure protection to teachers whose jobs were in jeopardy because of the inadequacies in the new admission system.
