Cycle rally planned at Pollachi on August 15

Pollachi: Anind.org, an organisation working towards achieving the goals of former President Abdul Kalam will organise a cycle rally at Pollachi on August 15.
The focus will be on safe and clean environment. The rally will start from Mahalingapuram and cover 20 km.
To highlight Mr. Kalam’s Vision 2020, 2,020 cyclists from various schools and colleges in and around Pollachi will participate in the rally. Various competitions on drawing, elocution and essay writing on the theme “Protecting our environment” will be held from August 1 at Hotel Balaji. All participants will be offered a complimentary dinner and a certificate by World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Winner will get a two night and three day stay at Club Mahindra Resort in Munnar.
Anind is taking up an initiative to start cycling clubs in schools and colleges. Mr. Anand is undertaking a 2,020-km ride on August 15. He will reach Chennai on September 5 marking Teachers Day. He plans to cover 100 km daily. NSS volunteers and NCC cadets will join him on the way.
