Pocket-pickers arrested

CHENNAI: City police have arrested three pocket-pickers who had been committing the crime for the past several years.
They were caught when one of them was creating trouble near a snack centre at the Ellis Road-Nalla Thambi Road junction. He was threatening a victim with a knife. When the victim raised an alarm, police nearby rushed to the spot. The pocket-picker confessed that he belonged to the gang led by one Babulal. Based on the information provided by him, the police arrested Suresh alias Surukka Suresh, Chandira alias Chandira Mohan and Suresh alias Ponnappa Suresh and recovered 13 sovereigns of gold jewellery, cell phones and knives from them.
