Three held in cheating case

CHENNAI: Three persons, including two women, were arrested on Thursday by the Central Crime Branch police for cheating several persons by luring them to invest in the Tiruvalluvar Kalvi Arakkattalai run by them.

According to the complainant, R. Karthikeyan of Sembium, three persons, V. Ganapathi, and his wife G. Jayanthimala, both of Gummidipoondi, and R. Lalitha of Madhandapuram of Porur had cheated him of Rs.1 lakh by promising him that he would get several crore rupees on his investment.

Mr. Karthikeyan had filed a complaint with City Police Commissioner R. Sekar.

A case of cheating was registered under Section 420 read with Section 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Indian Penal Code.

The arrested persons were remanded to judicial custody on Thursday.
