Port security to be beefed up

VISAKHAPATNAM: Security in and around Visakhapatnam Port would be tightened in view of serial bomb blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of Port Security Committee held under the chairmanship of VPT Chairman K. Ratna Kishore. Collector Sanjay Kumar and other officials attended.

“In view of recent escalation in terrorist activities in the country, it was brought out in the meeting that all precautionary measures have to be taken to safeguard the vulnerable points and areas in VPT against any form of terrorism,” a release said.
