KOZHIKODE: The Federation of Higher Secondary-Vocational Higher Secondary Teachers Associations (FHSTA) has asked the authorities concerned to ensure the security of teachers who attend cluster meetings. The district convention of the federation held here recently asked the government to conduct the cluster meetings only after making sure that the teachers attending the programme were provided adequate protection. The convention said that the demand was being made since there was a doubt of a threat to teachers’ safety at the cluster meeting to be held on August 2. The meeting described as ‘paltry’ the ex-gratia payment of Rs.5 lakh announced for the family of the teacher who died after the recent violence during a cluster meeting in Malappuram.
