Appeal to make August 20 strike successful
Call given by trade unions, employees’ organisations Inflation, labour policies, contract apointments flayed
HYDERABAD: The All-India State Government Employees’ Federation (AISGEF) on Tuesday appealed to all employees and teachers to make the countrywide strike on August 20 a success. The call for the strike was given by trade unions and employees’ organisations.
Right to strike
Addressing a press conference here, AISGEF general secretary Sukomal Sen, along with representatives of AP NGOs, TNGOs, UTF and other employees’ bodies, said the strike was against the unprecedented inflation, labour policies of the government like outsourcing, contract appointments, privatisation and downsizing. It was also to protest the “discriminatory recommendations” of the Sixth Pay Revision Commission recommendations and the denial of right to strike.
R. Muthusundaram, assistant general secretary, urged the government to hold talks with the employees’ associations before implementing the recommendations of the PRC.
