EMRI, GEOMED Research sign pact
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: For accident victims, golden hour is most critical. To ensure that the patient receives faster medical aid by avoiding traffic snarls, Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) intends to incorporate the Geographic Information System (GIS) into its ambulances in the near future. GIS will provide the driver with alternate and faster routes to the nearest hospitals during the critical hour.
To enable this, EMRI and GEOMED Research Forschungsgesellschaft mbH entered into an alliance for implementation of GIS-based emergency health systems data utilisation, here on Tuesday.
Anil Jampala, Lead Partner, EMRI, said the objective was to utilise the past emergency data to relocate ambulances based on the demand pattern apart from health monitoring. He also said that the system would act as an early warning indicator alerting authorities in case of an epidemic. EMRI and GEOMED aim to create GIS maps with nearest hospitals, fire stations, trauma centres and hospitals plotted across the State Thomas Krafft, member of managing board, GEOMED Research said they would need to look into different health systems for a comprehensive coverage.
