Scholarly work: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy releasing the book of M. Veerappa Moily in Hyderabad on Tuesday. HYDERABAD: AICC general secretary and Chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission, M. Veerappa Moily asserted here on Tuesday that through forward thinking and innovative steps alone, a nation would progress and the Indo-US nuclear agreement was a right step in that direction. He was speaking at a function to mark the release of Telugu and Tamil versions of collections of his articles on a variety of topics. The Telugu version titled Telugu Bhasha-Sanskriti-Samaja Darshanam was brought out by Dravidian University and released by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Dealing with issues confronting India in a philosophical and rational manner he said, “Some of our friends wanted to shoot down nuclear deal. But within 15 years, India will be great hub of nuclear energy equipment. Let Andhra Pradesh appoint an expert committee, take initiative to emerge as the biggest hub for manufacturing nuclear equipment, ” he said. Emphasising the need to achieve progress fast, he said in another 25 years, youth, forming biggest chunk of population will be hungry for jobs, opportunities. “If the country fails to meet their expectations, edifice of our democracy will crumble,” he said. Confessing to be a voracious reader and compulsive writer, Dr. Moily said his 3,000 page Sri Ramayana Manveshanam was ready for publication. He already started his next work on ‘Draupadi’. Earlier, Chief Minister described Moily as a multifaceted personality and that his book reflected his vision and scholarship. State Council for Higher Education Chairman K.C. Reddy described Moily’s work gave a synoptic view of contemporary issues confronting Indian society in a scholarly but down-to-earth manner.
