TDP wants Parliament session as scheduled

Centre scared as its misdeeds would be exposed: Yerran Naidu

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party Leader K. Yerran Naidu on Tuesday demanded the monsoon session of Parliament as scheduled on August 11. He expressed fears that the Government might postpone it.

At a press conference here, he said the Government was afraid to face Parliament as its “misdeeds” would be exposed.

Referring to the outcome of the trust vote, he said the UPA regime had won it “technically” through inducements but lost the confidence of people. The Centre had “murdered democracy” by allegedly “purchasing” MPs and urged people to “hang the Congress in the next elections”.

‘People insecure’

Mr. Naidu stated that both the State and the Central Governments had “fully failed” on the law and order front and people were feeling insecure. Referring to the opening of fire in the air by MIM legislator Afsar Khan and the ruckus created by J.C. Prabhakar Reddy with senior officials of the Transport department, he criticised the Government for “inaction” in both cases.

As many as 25 terrorist incidents had taken place after the UPA came to power and the Centre had completely failed in providing intelligence inputs to States.

Mr. Naidu demanded CNN-IBN channel to telecast the CDs in its possession with regard to the ‘cash-for votes’ scam.

Taking exception to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s remarks that TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu had lost his sense of balance, he quipped Dr. Reddy had become “insane” due to fear of defeat in the next elections.

Palmolein scheme

On the subsidised sale of palmolein oil by the Government, he claimed that the Chief Minister had developed sudden love for people because of the ensuing elections. Why the Government did not launch the same programmes three years ago, he asked. Senior TDP leader Kodela Sivaprasada Rao accused the Congress of trying to split the Opposition parties.

He said the Telugu Desam Party would not be affected if two or three leaders leave the party.
