CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has posted for Tuesday a habeas corpus petition seeking the production of three persons before the court in which Handlooms Minister N.K.K.P. Raja is cited as a respondent. N. Elangovan of Mullampatty post in Perundurai taluk, Erode district, has filed the habeas corpus petition, in which he has sought a direction to the police to produce his father-in-law P.C.Palanisamy, mother-in-law Malarvizhi and brother-in-law P.Sivabalan before the court and set them at liberty. He has alleged that three persons, P.A.Sundararajan, M.Sundaram and Gopinath, who enjoy political protections, disturbed possession of land by the detenu. When Mr. Palanisamy refused to sit for a ‘katta panchayat,’ goondas entered the property and destroyed coconut trees and two dwelling houses. When the matter came up before a Division Bench comprising Justices D.Murugesan and S.Palanivelu, only Sivabalan was present. Since the other two detenus were not present, the court posted the matter for Tuesday.
