Title for Vizag Veterans

Nagendra Kumar’s fine all-round show

VISAKHAPATNAM: Vizag Veterans won the Vizag Twenty20 cricket tournament, beating Classic CC by five wickets with three balls to spare in the final at the Railway stadium here on Sunday afternoon.

Nagendra Kumar’s fine all-round show (four wickets and 39 not out, 3x4, 1x6) was highlight of the match.

The scores: Classic CC 132 for nine (P.S.S.V. Reddy 34, N. Madhu Babu 32, K. Kartik 30, Nagendra Kumar four for 22) lost to Vizag Veterans 133 for five in 19.3 overs (Nagendra Kumar 39 n.o., Kishore 28).

Ruth Salina wins

K. Ruth Salina of Visakhapatnam and Mahita Reddy won the girls’ u-16 doubles title in the late Nimmagadda Venkata Subbaiah Memorial all-India ranking Talent Series tennis tournament at Tirupati recently. Ruth and Mahita beat Abinaya of Tamil Nadu and Yamini of AP 9-3 in the final. Ruth went up to pre-quarterfinals in singles competition.

Washed out

The two-day round-robin match between Vizianagaram and East Godavari in the ACA North Zone u-16 inter-district cricket tournament for the G.S.S. Raju Trophy at Vizianagaram was washed out due to rain on Monday also.
