NEW DELHI: The announcement of TRS president K. Chandra Sekhar Rao that he would provide “issue-based support” to the TDP and was not averse to joining hands with N. Chandrababu Naidu, subject to certain conditions, “is the biggest joke of 2008” claims the newly launched Nava Telengana Praja Party (NTPP). In fact the development could be called as the eighth wonder of the world as till yesterday Mr. Rao was giving a new expansion for TDP as - Telengana drogula party (party of backstabbers), charged NTPP general secretary E. Peddi Reddy. He wanted to know what was the reason for the sudden love that had blossomed between Mr. Naidu and Mr. Rao. Mr. Rao had even described both Mr. Naidu and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as being “anti-Telengana.” What happened to Mr. Rao’s policies and principles on Telengana, he wondered. Political gimmicksMr. Peddi Reddy, talking to The Hindu, asserted that the people of Telengana were intelligent and they could not be fooled with these political gimmicks. They were observing all the developments and the TDP and TRS could not make any further attempts as they had already burnt their fingers on the issue. An alternative organisation, in the name of NTPP, had already come up to take care of the people’s aspirations and interests in the Telengana region, he said. Arrogant leaderMr. Peddi Reddy, who was a Minister in the Chandrababu Naidu government and also a former TDP general secretary, charged that Mr. Naidu was continuing to run the party in an “arrogant manner” and he referred to the expulsion TDP MP D.K. Adikesavulu from the organisation without any enquiry despite his claim that he had voted as per the TDP whip. “What Mr. Naidu has done in the case of Mr. Adikesavulu is not correct and it shows that there is no internal democracy in TDP,” he said. Mr. Peddi Reddy resigned from the TDP early this month along with another senior TDP leader T. Devender Goud.
