PM calls up Medvedev
Special Correspondent
New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday night to seek Moscow’s help at the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Nuclear Suppliers Group for the next two stages of the nuclear deal with the United States.
Dr. Singh also suggested the first week of December for Mr. Medvedev to visit India for the next India-Russia summit, a senior official said.
According to Itar-Tass, a broad spectrum of bilateral issues came up during the telephone conversation. The two leaders discussed cooperation in the context of talks they had earlier this month on the sidelines of a G8 summit in Japan.
PTI reports:
Dr. Singh also had a telephonic conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose country is the chair of the NSG, and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
