CHENNAI: Parry’s left-arm spinner Rahil Shah’s five-wicket haul restricted Jolly Rovers to 186 on the second day of their TNCA first division league fourth round encounter at the Murugappa-TI Cycles ground here on Friday. Parry’s was 31 for two in response on a day when the ground conditions considerably delayed the start of play. At RKM-Viveka, Southern Railway Institute was bowled out for 234 against Young Stars after being 179 for four at one stage. Off-spinner K. Srinivasan picked up four wickets for Young Stars which had earlier made 262 in its first innings. Globe Trotters finished with 396 against UFCC (T. Nagar) at Pachaiyappa’s ‘A’. Off-spinner J. Joel Joseph was the best bowler for UFCC with four for 93. Despite the 82-run second-wicket partnership between M. Vijay Bharathram (46) and Aditya Ganesh (38), UFCC was 130 for five in reply when bad light stopped play. At SRMC (turf), Grand Slam was 117 for six chasing Indian Bank’s 282. Aruna takes leadKishore V. Nath (71 batting) and Noorul Riaz (59) took Aruna to 196 for six in reply to Alwarpet’s 185 at IIT-Chemplast. Poor ground conditions at CPT-IP meant play was possible only after tea in the India Pistons-Vijay encounter. At CPT-IP: India Pistons 159 for seven in 75 overs vs Vijay. At SRMC (turf): Indian Bank 282 in 117 overs (P. Satish 56, E. Suresh 69, S. Dinesh Kumar 67) vs Grand Slam 117 for six in 52 overs. At Murugappa-TI Cycles: Jolly Rovers 186 in 92.3 overs (M. Vijay 46, R. Ramkumar 57, V. Subramania Siva 41, Rahil Shah five for 84) vs Parry’s 31 for two in 18 overs.
