Kozhikode: Kozhikode-based Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH) has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health Care Providers (NABH), under the Quality Council of India, Department of Industry and Commerce, Government of India. Quality Council of India secretary general Girdhar J. Gyani handed over the certificate to Minister for Home Kodiyeri Balakrishnan at a function here on Friday. Mr. Balakrishnan handed over the certificate to BMH chairman K.G. Alexander. The NABH has been established with the objective of enhancing health care system and promoting continuous quality improvement and patient safety. Mark of excellenceThe accreditation is a mark of excellence assuring patients of high-quality care and safety. It benefits patients, hospitals and staff, a press release issued here said. Mayor M. Bhaskaran presided over the inaugural function. BMH medical superintendent Shaji Thomas John; A. Pradeepkumar, MLA, NABH Chief Assessor Vikram Kashyap, District Congress Committee president K.C. Abu and Indian Medical Association Calicut chapter president Vijaya Kumar and BMH medical director T.P. Joseph were among those who spoke on the occasion.
