Ahmedabad firm plans defluoridation plants

HYDERABAD: The Ahmedabad-based Doshion Veolia Water Solutions (DVWS), a joint venture company with French firm Veolia, is holding discussions with the government to set up defluoridation plants in fluoride-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh.

It would install and operate the plants and even train local people in their operation, Ashit Doshi, DVWAS Managing Director, told The Hindu on the sidelines of a ‘customer partnership programme’ here on Wednesday. The technology was being supplied by Veolia, claimed to be the world’s best water management and systems provider. He said the company had bid for setting up a Rs.6 crore desalination plant in Bheemunipatnam Municipality in Visakhapatnam district with 1.3 million litre a day (MLD) capacity. The Centre had granted funds for the project which envisages conversion of sea water.
