Ganja worth Rs. 10,000 seized, one arrested

MANGALORE: A crime detection squad headed by city sub-division Deputy Superintendent of Police D. Dharmaiah on Tuesday arrested a person and seized ganja worth Rs. 10,000 from him.

The team, based on a tip-off, arrested Zainuddin, a resident of Bengre Kasba, when he was trying to transport the ganja in a boat to sell it at Mangalore North docks. The team handed over the accused to the Mangalore North (Bunder) police for further action.

A press release from Superintendent of Police N. Sathish Kumar here said that Zainuddin had been involved in similar cases registered in the Thalassery police station limits in Kerala and in the Bajpe and Mangalore North police station limits here.

A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
