Constable beaten up

CHENNAI: A traffic police constable who intercepted speeding motorcyclists on the East Coast Road on Tuesday night was allegedly beaten up.
Police said Eugin, attached to the Neelangarai Traffic Unit, was engaged in routine vehicle checks when eight youths came in four motorcycles.
When he stopped them to check vehicle documents, they roughed him up.
Locals rescue
Local people came to the policeman’s rescue and moved him to a nearby hospital. A patrol vehicle from the police control room reached the spot and arrested Saravanan (32), Bhaskaran (30) and Kumaran (30), while five others escaped.
