This Day That Age
President Eisenhower, in a letter to the Soviet Prime Minister, Mr. Nikita Khrushchev, on July 22 said that if a United Nations Security Council meeting of heads of governments and foreign ministers were generally desired, to discuss the Middle East situation “the United States would join in following that orderly procedure.” Mr. Harold Macmillan, British Premier, in his reply has signified his agreement to go to New York for a special meeting of the Security Council on the Middle East, if Mr. Khrushchev went too. Gen. De Gaulle has also sent his reply to Soviet Prime Minister’s message of July 19, suggesting Five-Power summit conference.
