BESCOM in a spot over billing-machine contract

BANGALORE: In what could be described as a major embarrassment to Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM), the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday set aside a contract it had awarded to private software firm Xygox Infotech Limited for supply of hand-held spot billing equipment. Justice N. Kumar passed the order on a petition by Nsoft (India), a software company that had contested the award of contract by BESCOM to Xygox. In its petition, Nsoft said BESCOM violated several rules in awarding the contract to Xygox.
