Narrow win for Bangalore Sporting

BANGALORE: Bangalore Sporting and Mangalore BC won close encounters on the second day of the State under-16 basketball championship for boys at the Sree Kanteerava stadium here on Wednesday.

While Bangalore Sporting downed PPC 46-43, Mangalore edged past Young Friends BC (Kolar) 41-39.

The results: Bangalore Sporting 46 (Brij Mohan 14) bt PPC 43 (Subramanya 13); Mounts Club 49 (Akshay 20, Fouad 10, Rishi 10) bt Devanga Union 40 (Shankar 15, Harsha 10); Young Orions 38 (Dybin 10) bt Rovers (Dharwad) 19.

JSC 59 (Gokul 16, Vipul 10) bt DRDO 35 (Akshay 16, Karthik 16); SAI (Dharwad) 44 (Mayur 18, Abhishek 10) bt Southern Blues 14; Mangalore BC 41 (Arun 10) bt YFBC (Kolar) 39 (Nandish 21).

Amit scores century

Amit Verma’s 130 (198b, 18x4, 1x6) helped KSCA President’s XI score 270 for four against KSCA XI in a Shafi Darashah Trophy tournament match that commenced at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Wednesday.

The scores: KSCA President’s XI 270 for four in 90 overs (Amit Verma 130, Yere Goud 61 n.o., V.S. Thilak Naidu 40 n.o.) vs KSCA XI.

Secretary’s XI 101 for one in 33 overs (H.T. Sudhir Rao 57 n.o.) vs Combined City XI.

Paralympic team selection

The Indian paralympic volleyball team will be selected during the course of a selection trial at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on August 12.
