Wide-eyed wonder: Students of Akshara International School at the Reliance Hypermart in Tirupati on Wednesday. Tirupati: Tirupati-based Reliance Hypermart conducted an educational tour for the students of Akshara International School on Wednesday, in a bid to highlight the basics of retail business and to drive home the message on how an organized retail chain is different from the unorganized market. The mart, which was the first to be set up in South India and the third in the country, played host to 150 inquisitive kids in the age group of 8-12 years, most of them pestering the store managers about the products and their features. The event managers explained how retail business was emerging as an option that can no more be wished away, changing the market dynamics of the country. Detailed tourThe kids were told that apart from the wide range of products to choose from, the retail chains offered the customers an undeniable edge and bargaining power in the form of discounts and special offers. All, they were taught how to read the pack for details on ingredients in a product, date of manufacture, expiry date, nutritional table etc. At the end of the tour, the kids were quizzed on various facilities available in the store and instant prizes were given away for the right answers. Similarly, painting/colouring competitions and crossword puzzles were also conducted to keep up their interest.
