COIMBATORE: Revenue and Housing Minister I. Periyasamy on Wednesday appreciated the efforts of a college near the city to create environmental awareness among students. Addressing a function organised to mark the opening of the academic year of the AJK College of Arts and Science at Navakkarai, the Minister said such an environmental policy of the college would enable students to make the world a greener place. He commended the college’s commitment to ensure this. ActivitiesThe college promoted an eco-friendly atmosphere through activities like tree planting, rain water harvesting, solid waste management, water recycling, energy saving, and keeping the campus litter and plastic free. “It is not enough to have many courses in a college. It is vital to maintain quality, as quality education is the need of the hour,” the Minister said. SpeakersN.V. Nagasubramaniam, Trustee, Siruthuli, R.S. Lal Mohan, Trustee of the college, Ajeet Kumar Lal Mohan, Secretary and Managing Trustee of the college, and P.V. Balasubramaniam, principal, also expressed their views at the function.
