Selection process for Balashree awards

COIMBATORE: Balashree awards will be distributed to children in the age group of nine to 16.

A release from P. Hemanathan, Assistant Director of Maiyam, Salem, said the government was conferring the awards on children who have excelled in arts, literature and science.

The selection would be done at Jawahar Bala Bhavan. Children from Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Erode, Coimbatore and the Nilgiris districts had applied for the award.

Stage skills

The applicants should have performed well in arts, handicrafts or stage skills such as music, dance or drama, writing skills in English and Tamil or they should have achieved proficiency in science.

The shortlisted applicants would be called for a selection to be held at the Salem zonal office on July 26 and 27.

The awards would be given away by the President.
