Two women arrested

CHENNAI: Two women were caught when they attempted to relieve a devotee of her gold chain in a temple in Mylapore here on Sunday.
Police said R. Mariammal (38) and M. Muthalu (20) of Cuddalore were caught when they tried to snatch the 1.5 sovereign gold chain of Prabha, who had come to participate in a special puja at Mundagakanniamman Temple.
When interrogated by the police, the duo confessed to have been in the practice of stealing jewellery from women devotees at temple festivals. They were produced in a city court and remanded to judicial custody.
