Doctor’s prescription helps police solve murder case

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A doctor’s prescription recovered from a lodge in Nampally enabled the police to unravel the mystery in the murder of a 55-year-old woman Suraiah.

Suraiah (55), who checked in with a couple -- Hemant Jain and Parveen Khan along with their three-year-old baby, was found dead in the room on June 23. They checked into the lodge on June 21.

Police telephoned Dr. A.P. Shah with the help of a phone number on the prescription and found that he practised in Malvani, Mumbai.

A requisition was later sent to Mumbai and New Delhi police with photographs of the deceased woman and names and descriptions of the alleged accused.

The New Delhi police apprehended Hemant (27) and his wife Parveen (22) from New Delhi.

A police team went to New Delhi and brought them to the city.

Hemant told police that he was having illicit relationship with Suraiah for the last few years while working in her company in Mumbai.

He decided to break the relationship as he was married to Parveen.

But Suraiah’s refusal let him to hatch a plan to do away with her.

Accordingly, Hemant, his wife, child and Suraiah came here and checked into Hussaini lodge.

Then the couple strangled Suraiah to death and disappeared, covering the body with a blanket, said Habeebnagar Inspector A. Srinivas Rao on Saturday.

He said the doctor’s prescription belong to the child.
