Intel launches one-stop solution for SMBs

Shanthi Kannan

CHENNAI: Small and medium businesses (SMBs) generally struggle to find technology products and services that fit into their budgets and needs. Even if they find, implementing the same becomes difficult. To address this issue, Intel India has launched an online storefront and business solution — Intel Business Exchange — for SMBs.

The Intel Business Exchange connects customers, partners and channel providers in one easy-to-use location. It will bring together offerings such as bundled software and hardware, stand-alone business applications and services for SMBs. The SMBs can access the site to do research on products and services, request quotes and connect the solution providers to speed the identification, selection and implementation of the technology they need to run their businesses.

The Intel Business Exchange has identified Chennai as the potential business destination and is targeting a cluster of automotive component and garment manufacturing companies from the Ambattur Industrial Area, according to Peter. D. Elmgren, Managing Director, Intel Business Exchange, Worldwide.

Scope for tech players

Mr. Elmgren told The Hindu that the Indian SMB market was yet to be fully tapped and there was good scope for technology players to offer integrated and customised solutions. Intel would provide a single window platform that would address all the needs and issues faced by SMBs and transform the market into an organised setup.

Mr. Elmgren said that in addition to being a resource for SMBs, the Intel Business Exchange would help independent software vendors (ISVs) and channel partners reach the potential customers. The ISVs who participate in the Intel Business Exchange include Tally, TidalData, Planvisage, reach Technologies, Think3 and Infospectrum.

He said Intel Business Exchange was a one-stop online destination that would help SMBs to discover and buy innovative business solutions based on Intel technology.

Narendra Bhandari, Director of the Intel Software and Solutions Group, APAC, said the adoption of IT by SMBs in India was growing by 24 per cent year-on-year compared to Russia (22.9 p.c), China (20.4 p.c.) and Brazil (19.4 p.c.). He said the main reasons for adopting IT by SMBs were to manage growth, increase efficiency and influence large customers.
