TNEB announces power shutdown schedule for Tirunelveli

TIRUNELVELI: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board’s Tirunelveli Distribution Circle has announced ‘load shedding schedule’ for the entire district following the ‘power holiday’ announcement made by Minister for Electricity Arcot N. Veerasamy.

According to Chief Engineer, Tirunelveli Distribution Circle, TNEB, S. Sundararaman, following ‘load shedding schedule’ will come into force from July 21 onwards.

Corporation areas

Power supply for combined drinking water schemes, streetlights and houses will not be cut between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. A 24-hour power holiday (6 a.m. to 6 a.m.) for the industries in Tirunelveli district will be observed on all Thursdays.

While 4-hour power supply during the day and 8-hour supply during night will be maintained for farming operations on Thursdays and Saturdays, the daytime supply during all other days will be increased by two hours. Two-hour power cut will be introduced in Tirunelveli Corporation and seven other municipality areas in the district. Load shedding hours for Old Pettai, Palayamkottai and Thaazhaiyooththu areas – 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 12 Noon to 1 p.m. Melapalayam, Tirunelveli Town, Pettai (part), Industrial Estate areas – 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Reddiyarpatti and Thaazhaiyooththu areas – 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Pettai (part), Kunnathoor, Tirunelveli Junction and Samaathaanapuram – 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pettai (part), Seevalaperi, Kaansaapuram and V.M. Chathram – 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. High Ground and Kokkirakulam – 11 a.m. to 12 Noon and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Municipal areas

Tenkasi Town (1) Feeder – 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; Tenkasi Town (2) Feeder – 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Shencottai – 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sankarankovil Town (1) Feeder – 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.;

Sankarankovil Town (2) Feeder – 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Vickramasingapuram – 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Ambasamudram – 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Kadayanallur Town (1) and Town (2) Feeder – 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Puliyangudi – 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Load shedding schedules will be displayed in all sub-stations and TNEB Executive Engineers’ offices across the district, Mr. Sundararaman said.
